Biography - Dr. Ron Martinelli

Ron Martinelli, Ph.D., is the founder and director of Martinelli & Associates Justice and Forensic Consultants, Inc. He is recognized in California and across the nation
as an authority in officer safety, the Use of Force street gang dynamics
and law enforcement training.
Dr. Martinelli is a former police officer and a 25 year veteran of law
enforcement, who spent the majority of his diverse career with the San Jose
(CA) Police Department.
He served in a variety of field, investigative and training assignments
including: felony suppression patrol, street gang investigations, academy instructor
and Field Training Officer. He was also a member of the San Jose PD's elite
Street Crimes Unit and worked as an undercover decoy officer in robbery and
prostitution sting operations.
Dr. Martinelli is a former director of one of California's Criminal Justice
Training Centers, where he also coordinated Basic Police, Sheriff, and Corrections/Probation
Academies. He received his Doctoral degree in criminology from Columbia Pacific
University and Masters degrees in Public and Justice Administration from Golden
Gate University. He has been an active college credentialed instructor since 1978.
Dr. Martinelli is certified as an "expert witness" in state and federal courts
on the subjects of law enforcement training and the Use of Force. He is listed
in several national directories of experts, including the Calibre Press "Street Survival"
Directory of Expert Witnesses. He has been a consultant on Use of Force training for CPOC,
CAPIA, and CPPCA, and is a frequent training presenter at regional and state
conferences. He is also a member in good standing of the prestigious International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA).
Dr. Martinelli is the author of three texts, over 20 training manuals and numerous
published articles on officer safety, use of force, street gangs and law enforcement
training. His work has been spotlighted in national newspapers, magazines and TV crime documentaries.
