UNARMED DEFEENSIVE TACTICS ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR

I. Course Description

A 24-hour assistant instructor development course in the specific Martinelli & Associates Unarmed Defensive Tactics (UDT) methodology. Course involves the learning and demonstrating at the assistant instructor level of a techniques system of unarmed defenses against all standing and ground-based unarmed assaults. Successful completion of this course and a 16-hour UDT Level-1 training evaluation module will certify the student as a UDT Assistant Instructor (AI). UDT AI's work under the supervision of a Master or Senior Instructor during all UDT classes and may independently conduct up to 2-hour remediation training sessions with staff unsupervised.

1. At the instructor level, articulate the use of force continuum, case laws, and be able to demonstrate the appropriate use of force needed in each practice scenario.
2. At the instructor level, articulate and explain the basic concepts of combat physiology and human anatomy.
3. At the instructor level, perform the Martinelli Unarmed Defensive Tactics (UDT) system of various linear defensive strikes against a variety of standing and ground-based unarmed assaults.
4. At the instructor level, demonstrate various teaching and remediation techniques, including didactic, lecture, role-playing scenarios, and audio-visual.
5. At the instructor level, demonstrate how to properly test, objectively evaluate, and document student performance in the Martinelli UDT system.
